If you are looking into having solid hardwood installed in your home, here are a few things you should know:
Solid hardwood must be acclimated to the temperature of your house prior installation
Solid Hardwood cannot be installed on top of a concret slab, unless Plywood is installed first.
Hardwood must be nailed or nailed and glued if wood is over 5” wide
Subfloors must be properly nailed or screwed down to prevent from squeaking and to insure proper installation.
If you want that hardwood feel in you basement and don’t want to go through all the trouble and expence of installing plywood There are many other options you can do like an engineer floor, lock and fold laminate floor or even a vinyl floor.
